A full team is the goal, not a promise. Year one is one angler. Panama is where the team starts to take shape, and we'll only name the anglers we can support.

Five steps to Panama

    Join the interest list

    Tell us about you and your fishing. It takes about three minutes, and it isn't a commitment.

  2. 02

    Confirm enrollment

    We confirm enrollment privately, one on one. Nothing is published.

  3. 03

    Selection

    Anglers are chosen on shore-fishing ability, stamina and team fit. We only name as many as we can support.

  4. 04

    Train and travel

    Practice plans, gear lists and passports, with NASFF working sponsorships to cover as much of the cost as it can.

  5. 05

    Fish for NASFF

    Selected anglers compete for NASFF at the 2027 Pan American Championships in Panama.

How Pan Am teams work

These are the Pan Am roster rules. They describe what's possible, not what NASFF is planning to field in 2027.

Team score

Three to score

The team score adds up each nation's three best anglers. That's NASFF's first target: a scoring core of three to four.

Roster limits

Room to grow

Up to 10 adult men per nation, and up to 15 anglers when at least three women and two under-21s are entered. That's the long game.

Men, women, under-21

All can apply. Under-21s are 11 to 21 on tournament day and travel with a parent or guardian.

Federations announce their team members when registration closes, so rosters are set well before the event

Selection

What we look for

Selection criteria and dates are published in 2027, once the tournament details are released. Here's what matters.

  • Experience fishing from shore (beaches, rocks, jetties, inlets) with artificial lures for warm-water game fish like jacks, trevally, tarpon, snook, snapper and grouper
  • The ability to fish at a high level across a morning and an afternoon session on both days, plus practice
  • A team-first attitude: you share what's working and help your teammates
  • Organized and self-starting, able to plan your own travel and training
  • Fit and healthy for long days in heat and surf
  • Available for the full event window

No tournament experience? That's fine. It helps, but ability and attitude matter more.
