Our story
A federation of our own
International sport fishing runs on federations. Countries send teams, and each team is backed by an organization that selects athletes, handles entries and builds support.
NASFF is that organization for Native American anglers. It was founded in September 2026 so Native anglers could compete as a delegation of their own, representing enrolled citizens of federally recognized tribal nations.
We're starting small and doing it right. Year one is one angler at the 2026 Pan American Surf Fishing Championships in Florida, and a camera to show everyone who comes next what the path takes.
Why we exist
Mission & vision
Enter Native American anglers in sanctioned international sport fishing competition, and build the pathway that gets them there.
A lasting federation that Native anglers and tribal nations can count on, from the first cast in Florida to the rosters that follow.
What we stand for
Our values
Respect
Tribal protocols come first. Before we feature a tribe or its citizens, we ask.
Excellence
Anglers are selected on ability, stamina and team fit, and they fish to win.
Honesty
We're clear about where we are. Year one is one angler, and we only promise what we can deliver.
Access
Cost shouldn't decide who fishes. We're building the sponsorships to make that true.
Eligibility
Who can join
NASFF's roster is open to enrolled citizens of federally recognized tribal nations.
- Men, women and under-21 anglers can all apply
- Under-21s are 11 to 21 on tournament day and travel with a parent or guardian
- Enrollment is confirmed privately, one on one, before anyone is named to a roster
- No ID documents or enrollment numbers are ever collected through the website
Leadership
Who's behind it
Robert Jacobo III
Robert is an enrolled member of the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe and grew up on the Fort Mojave Indian Reservation. Today he's a surf and kayak angler in Southern California, where he runs the IndigeFish fishing channel.
He founded 4B Management Group and Indigenous Media Group, which do digital media work for Tribal Nations and Indigenous communities. In November he fishes Sebastian Inlet as NASFF's first athlete.
